Arriving in Australia
On arrival in Australia, our team on the ground will help you and your family to settle in. We have a fully supported orientation and induction program, where we will also assist you in obtaining Tax File Numbers, Private Health Insurance, Medical Indemnity and Initial Housing arrangements – so you can focus on settling in to your new life.
In the first few days…
- Try not to schedule too many activities as you may need to recover if you’ve travelled from half-way around the world
- Consider a cheap “pay-as-you go” mobile as soon as possible – this will make you more contactable in the first few weeks after your arrival
- If you opened a bank account from overseas you will need to activate this as soon as possible. This can be completed by visiting a bank with your passport and the boarding pass from your flight to Australia
- If you are a UK citizen, you are eligible for membership of Medicare, Australia’s government administered health insurance programme. Visit the nearest Medicare office asap and register yourself and your family. Visit www.medicareaustralia.gov.au
- You will also be required to visit the Medical Board to initiate your registration
