Just an hour and a half out of Sydney, we are offering you the opportunity to live and work in Katoomba, near the famous World Heritage beautiful Blue Mountains. Katoomba is the chief town and most visited within the Blue Mountains in New South Wales. Katoomba's main industry is tourism based on spectacular mountain scenery.
Perched on the edge of a 170 metre cliff, Katoomba is the home of Echo Point and the famous Three Sisters and has been a popular bushwalking area for nearly 170 years.
Katoomba comes alive at night with the many cafes and restaurants in the main street. The only problem is choosing which one you wish to dine in. Katoomba also features many galleries, with some located on Lurline Street.
Summer daytime temperatures are usually in 20s with a few days extending into the 30s (Celsius). Night time temperatures are usually in the teens. The scenic beauty and tranquillity of Katoomba and the surrounding Blue Mountains area have long made Katoomba a haven for Sydney-siders looking for relaxation.
Job Description
Full Time General Practitioner required to meet patient demand. Approximately 40 hours per week with shared weekend roster.
The Practice
The Upper Mountains Medical Centre is a modern, bustling and friendly GP clinic situated in Katoomba. The local recreational area for Katoomba is the National Park and World Heritage listed Blue Mountains! The medical centre is well respected and ideally close to the town centre and opposite the railway station.
There are 14 standard consult rooms and a 4 bay treatment area with 3 nurse’s stations. Upper Mountains Medical Centre is a modern new centre with airconditioning.
Support
GP’s are supported by friendly and efficient administration, practice management and nursing staff. A nurse is on duty at all times throughout the week, servicing the treatment room and assisting doctors with Care Plans, Health Assessments and minor procedures
Required Skills
- Postgraduate training and experience in general practice
- Eligibility for registration with the Medical Board of NSW
- Ideally you should hold Fellowship of the relevant Australian Specialist College or an equivalent qualification
- Alternatively, you will hold AMC (Part 1) with 5 years experience or postgraduate training and general practice experience to work unsupervised
